This workshop will provide an overview of the limited conservatorship process and address the most common questions asked by families who are planning for the future of a child with an intellectual or developmental disability.  Jennifer Steneberg from The Dale Law Firm will discuss possible methods of retaining legal decision-making authority for an adult child without formal conservatorship and the role of Regional Center in decision-making.

If the parents workshop topic does not apply to you, please join us at 8 pm for our wine and cheese social and network with other parents about special education issues in high school.

This event is open to parents throughout the Acalanes Union High School District area regardless of the high school that a student attends.

Please find attached the current edition of the Council's Corner.

Hello Families of Walnut Creek!

It is my pleasure to introduce the C.A.R.E Program offered by the Walnut Creek police department.  This program allows you to register your son or daughter with special needs with the Walnut Creek police department.  This would give valuable information to them, if your son or daughter should ever come in contact with a police officer in the city of Walnut Creek during an emergency situation, just walking around on their own, or if they wander off from time to time.

I am strongly encouraging every caregiver within the Walnut Creek city limits to register their vulnerable family members for this program.  You never know when you may need it!

To register: Please fill out the form attached to this email and send along with a photo of your family member to Grant Rachlin, peace officer, at rachlin@walnutcreekpd.com.

If you have any further questions, please contact Grant Rachlin, peace officer, at rachlin@walnutcreekpd.com or Bridget Benjamin at bbenjamin@auhsdschools.org.

Thank you for your time,
