Below are additional announcements from the Developmental Disabilities Council:

1) From Contra Costa County Health, Housing and Homeless Services Division: Housing insecure youth and families are traditionally difficult to identify during our annual Homeless Point in Time Count. We are conducting a special count this year targeted just to these populations to better capture information about the need for housing and services for youth and families in our community. The count is focused on people in Contra Costa under the age of 25 and/or people raising minor children. The survey closes Sunday September 9th.

The survey can be completed in a number of ways including: calling 211 to do the survey over the phone, texting 898211 with your zip code to do the survey by text, or going online to bit.ly/housingsurvey2018

2) September 13, 2018 at 3:00: In partnership with the
Disability Organizing (DO) Network, the Disability Visibility Project ® will host a Twitter chat on Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) in a conversation with all of the candidates for California Governor. We will first ask the candidates a series of questions to these candidates about LTSS in California and will leave time for any participant to talk to the candidates about their concerns. Everyone is welcome to participate but please know the conversation will be focused on California LTSS issues. More info and a downloadable accessible guide on how to participate in a Twitter chat if this is your first time can be found at http://disabilityorganizing.net/training-events/. (This link will also provide you with information on some webinars taking place later in the month on voting rights, accessibility and education.)

3) From PG&E: With the 2018 wildfire season upon us, PG&E is convening informational workshops about our Community Wildfire Safety Program. As you may already know, in the event of extreme fire danger conditions, it may be necessary for us to temporarily turn off electricity in some areas within your community to protect public safety. We understand how important electric service is to our customers, and we will only consider a Public Safety Power Shutoff as a last resort. Join us at your local workshop to learn more about PG&Es plans and to provide your input:

Thursday, September 13, 2 to 4 p.m.
at Amador Rancho Community Center, Bella Vista Room,
1998 Rancho Park Loop, San Ramon, Calif. If you would like to attend, or require on-site accommodations such as translation and sign language services, contact 916-386-5240 or dmb4@pge.com.

P.S. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to provide feedback through the Developmental Disabilities Council survey. The survey will close next week. It can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/J5HCPQS
